History & Values

We’ve got a great backstory.

The word Mirabella was chosen as part of our name because it can be loosely translated from Italian for “beautiful vision.” That perfectly reflects the Pacific Retirement Services’ goal of helping residents create a vision of their future that is equal parts purposeful and beautiful.

First incorporated in 2004, Mirabella Seattle was the first Mirabella-brand Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) to be developed by PRS. Back in 2004, we still called ourselves a CCRC. These days, we go by the term Life Plan Community, but our reason for being here is still the same: We’re dedicated to enhancing the retirement experience. We’re a resident-driven community that’s constantly evolving to meet the expectations of our residents. We have an all-local board of directors, which includes residents, and we have a very active and engaged resident council.

From the beginning, Mirabella Seattle was designed to embody PRS’s new thinking in senior living design, with larger residences, better community spaces, and amenities on par with those found in the finest vacation resorts. The goal was to be a place where people could make their next chapters their best ones—where age is just a number, and not something that defines who a person is or how he or she feels.

We welcomed our first residents in December of 2008. And in 2009, the Oregon chapter of the International Interior Design Association presented us and Ankrom Moisan Associated Architects with the Honor Award for Residential Spaces. This award recognized interior designs that allow people to thrive.
